This is a fantastic 6 volume set - copyright 1900-1905 - titled Masters in Art - A Series of Illustrated Monographs published in Boston by Bates & Guild Company. Each books represents about 12 different master artists from that time period through-out the world and has about 10 monograph plates or prints of each the artists work, along with a biography of the artist as well as a description of the painting. There are about 780 plates in all. The books are leather bound with gold decorated fronts and edges. The bindings are good as well as the pages. Some pages show minimal wear and one book has a small amount of water marks. The outer leather has wear around the edges. All are intact. It is an absolutely stunning history of art and very informative. At times, some of these monograph plates are torn out and sold individually, but I simply cannot destroy such great books. Some of the artists represented are Rembrandt, DaVinci, Ruben, Michelangelo, Vermeer Gainsborough, Goya, Whistler, plus many more.
