'PHOTOGRAVURE 'REAPER'S REST' by JULES BRETON - COPYRIGHTED GEORGE BARRIE Original, antique photogravure by George Barrie from 1882 titled 'Reaper's Rest by artist Jules Breton. This engraving measures 17" by 11 1/2" with the actual image size being 9 3/4" by 5 3/4". It has the impressed border from the print impression of the block. It has been protected by a tissue paper cover titled Collection of Mr. William Astor, New York - Reaper's Rest - Artist A. A. L. Jules Breton. The engraving has a signature by Jules Breton 1878 in the actual photogravure and also in the outer edge next to Artist. It is also marked on the bottom right Copyrighted 1882 by Georg Barrie. There is some discoloration to the outer edges of the matt area, but the image size is in good condition. A very crisp, clear and detailed engraving of a family at rest after having a picnic out of doors. I will be listing other photogravures by George Barrie, if interested.
